Tomy ~ A Mixture of Naughtiness and Cuteness

Dogs are the best friends of man since a long time; in fact they’re so, right from the beginning of evolution. Well, the reason why I’m talking about dogs is because of my own dog, Tomy. Well… I think you guys might be thinking that I am a little bit absurd to write about my dog, Tomy. Well if you do so then don’t. Because he’s a part of my life too! And I love my life! He’s a cute dog and I think you can say that, as he’ll be turning two this May (2009). He belongs to the daschaund breed. Well actually we bought him from a kennel. He’s pure jet black and has the most adorable eyes in the world. He always thinks of food and nothing else, but at the same time he’s a good guard dog too. Say, even if a fly were to pass by our door, he’d start barking the head out of the house. Despite his size (1 and 3 quarters feet-broad; 20 cms from the ground), his barking sure is loud. We’re in the 2nd floor and we can hear him whine/bark right till the ground floor and the terrace. He loves to have company and hates to be left alone at irregular timings i.e. other than when we go to school and work. If, we were to leave him at any irregular time, then he’d start to whine; scratch the door; do a hell of mischief and other things to express his anger. He’s a happy and jumpy dog and loves guests when they start to live in our houses. But if he sees anything strange object, he’ll get very scared to get near it and starts to play with it only after he’s known everything about it. Sometimes while he’s asleep (he’s always!) he wags his tail and sometimes makes yapping noises too! ahahahahahahah I laugh ‘til my sides start to ache! That’s a funny thing about him. Another thing about him is that he’s a DAMN SCARED DOG! He’s scared to go down in HIS WILL and when I force him to go his hind legs start to tremble and he gets terribly scared! Now if you were to ask me, then that is a very funny too! Well as I had you before that he loves food, then I start to tease him by getting a piece of any sweet food and run it in around his nose and eyes. Then slowly and steadily he starts to drool!!! ahahahahahahah!!! He drools a lot when his food is especially non – veg!

Well I guess this much about my dog should be enough! Or else I can go on and on and on writing about my doggie, Tomy!

Pumpkin Scissors

Pumpkin Scissors (パンプキン・シザーズ Panpukin Shizāzu?) is a manga created by Ryoutarou Iwanaga, originally serialized in Magazine GREAT in 2002, but later moved to Monthly Shōnen Magazine in October 2006. The manga has been licensed by Del Rey as announced at the New York Comic Convention 2007. The series ended with 10 volumes.

An anime adaptation of Pumpkin Scissors, produced by Gonzo and AIC, began airing on October 2, 2006 across several Japanese television stations and ended with the 24th episode on March 19, 2007. The series was originally licensed to the North American market by ADV Films; in 2008, it became one of over 30 titles transferred from ADV to Funimation Entertainment.

Plot:

The story is set up in a region of a fictional world strongly resembling Western Europe during the Interwar period. Wireless communication does not exist nor do fully automatic weapons, and semiautomatic firearms are still technically novel.

A ceasefire ended the long war between the Royal Empire and the Republic of Frost. Three years later, the Empire is still plagued by starvation, pestilence, and soldiers turning into bandits. To aid in the war relief effort, the "Imperial Army State Section III", also known as the Pumpkin Scissors, was established.

The name for the group was an idea from one of its officers, the 2nd Lieutenant Alice L. Malvin. According to her, in their war relief efforts they must face the threat of corrupt people who protect themselves behind lies, power, money and many other layers around them like a pumpkin, and the Section III must act like a pair of scissors cutting through those layers and delivering justice to them.

Considered a waste of resources by some, and just an instrument of propaganda by others, the Pumpkin Scissors still take their duty to assist the country's reconstruction seriously. One day their life starts to change when Randel Oland, a veteran soldier with a mysterious past joins their ranks.

The anime series covers the first five volumes of the manga and part of the sixth one with a few alterations. During the ending of the season one finale, there is a quote suggesting an upcoming season two.

Living For The Day After Tomorrow (Asatte no Houkou)

Also known as "Asatte no Houkou" is about two girls, Karada Iokawa, a little girl, and Shoko Nogami, a lady, are both unhappy with their lives and hope things can change. Karada¡¦s wish to grow older suddenly comes true as both girls¡¦ ages get reversed with Karada having to live on as a grown-up and Shoko as a child.

Karada Iokawa is a young girl who is to enter junior high school after summer, while Shoko Nogami is a young lady who just returned home from her studies abroad, and a close friend of Karada¡¦s older brother, Hiro.

While studying together in Boston, Hiro had to leave Shoko to return to Japan for his parents¡¦ funeral. Although he promised to go back to Boston, he eventually wrote to inform Shoko that he would not return without offering any reason. When Shoko returns, Karada takes her to meet with Hiro and other friends, but Shoko being still irritated, intentionally criticizes Karada as being childish.

Very unhappy, Karada then prays that she can grow up, and her wish miraculously comes true and she is transformed into a young woman. On the other hand, Shoko is transformed into an 11 year old.

What will do they do? How will they live their lives now?

Red Garden

Red Garden (レッド ガーデン Reddo Gāden?) is a Japanese animated television program produced by Gonzo studios and broadcast in Japan on TV Asahi since October 3, 2006. The plot revolves around four girls who become involved in a series of supernatural murders happening throughout the vicinity of a fictional depiction of New York City. It combines elements from typical American movie productions like horror, drama, mystery and musicals.

There are many references that would only be familiar to viewers of American movies and TV shows. One example is in episode 4, when Kate and Rose talk about a soup kitchen owner, saying "If you don't follow his rules, he won't sell you soup for a year.", a reference to the Soup Nazi episode of the American sitcom Seinfeld. Another example is how in episode 5 you can see a banner for the play Wicked, but it is titled Witches.

A manga of the same title began serialization in the seinen manga magazine Comic Birz on August 30, 2006. The first tankōbon was released on February 24, 2007.

Red Garden employs a technique often used by animated productions outside Japan, but rarely used in Japanese animation.[citation needed] The characters' dialogue is animated after the work of the voice cast, synchronizing the animation with the voice actors' voices. The synchronization is particularly evident in scenes where characters are singing (occurring in some of the earlier episodes).

An OVA sequel titled Red Garden: Dead Girls was released in Japan on August 8, 2007.

Red Garden was licensed for release in English by ADV Films and the first DVD was released on September 18, 2007.[1] ADV Films' Anime Network began airing the anime on September 13, 2007 on their Subscription On Demand platform.[2] On March 6, 2008 the anime began airing on their Free On Demand platform. FUNimation now has licensing rights to Red Garden.[3]

Philips GoGear

All right now this post is all about my Mp3, Philips GoGear. It’s a super cool product and I am very happy to have it… Hope you all enjoy it too! And the one I have is actually Philips SA19xx. Well I wasn't able to find much about mine, so here's a summary about another one!
Product summary
The good: The Philips GoGear SA4010 (1GB) and SA4020 (2GB) are stylish, budget MP3 players that fit comfortably in your fist and support Windows Media Player Plays for Sure and WMA DRM10 subscription content.
The bad: The GoGear's monochrome screen is hard to read, and the player lacks competitive features such as FM tuner/recorder, line-in recording, custom EQ, and voice recording-quality settings.
The bottom line: Though the Philips GoGear SA4010 and SA4020 cost $10 to $20 less than their competition, they sacrifice valuable functionality. For those with razor-sharp budgets, this Philips GoGear SA4000 series delivers decent design and basic functions, but consider paying a little more for a much more robust player.
Specifications: Device type: Digital player; Flash memory installed: 1 GB; Digital player supported digital audio standards: WMA, WAV, ADPCM, MP3 etc…

The Philips GoGear SA4010 (1GB) and SA4020 (2GB) don't deliver the most enviable list of features for flash-based MP3 players in their price category, but they do boast a solid, well-designed build that's easy on the eyes and pleasant to hold. But that's where the buck stops. The GoGear SA4000 series barely beats competitors such as the Creative Zen Nano Plus, the MobiBlu Cube DAH-1500i, and the SanDisk Sansa c240 on price, and it does so at the sacrifice of useful features such as an FM tuner.

Darker Than Black, Review!

Hey! Guess what? My 3rd favorite anime is now Darker Than Black! Well first is Cardcaptor Sakura, the xxxHOLiC and now it’s Darker Than Black! It comes every Tuesday between 8-9pm and 12-1am(repeat) in Animax (India). It was started in Animax from 30th December 2008 and still continues. The opening song is HOWLING by the Abingdon Boys School. This song was released in the year 2007(and I guess this was when Darker Than Black was also released.). HOWLING’s original time length is
4 min: 45 sec but in the opening of this anime I guess it’s shortened to somewhere about 1 min: 30 sec. And I’ve got no idea about the ending, sorry! Well I guess the basis of this anime is done, so I’ll move on to the story and the characters (on my perspective).

Story:
10 years have passed in Japan, when the contractors had first arrived and Hell’s gate was opened. Contractors, these people have special powers like control over gravity, electricity, fire, creating vacuums, storms etc. But a payment has to be done i.e. whenever they use their powers assigned by their contract. Sometimes the payment is feeble and sometimes it’s worse. Hell’s gate, is were all the worst of the worst contractors reside, is actually a wall very big… such that normal human won’t cross it. There are dolls too who’s powers are like able to see one end from another end through any element or object only if that same object is there in the other end. Right after the contactors had arrived and Hell's gate was opened, all the ‘real stars’ had gone and was replaced with fake one’s. Hmmm… I guess this much should be enough for the story.

Characters:
The main character of this anime is Shan Shung Li (BK201; Hei), an migrant from China who’s come to live in Japan. The real thing is that even he’s a contractor too, and that’s when the police call him BK201. He uses a mask to cover his face and usually does his work in the nights. He and his friends (a contractor, a talking cat and a doll) do the work together by taking each other’s help and ability. The police officer Ms. Kirihara does her job by going after the contractors.
Well I guess that’s it then. See you later with my next blogpost!

Car Interiors from Coconut Husks…!

Washington: Researchers at Baylor University have developed a new way to transform coconut husks into automotive interiors.

They say that it is possible to make trunk liners, floorboards and car-door interior covers using fibers from the outer husks of coconuts, replacing the synthetic polyester fibers typically used in composite materials.

“Why coconuts? That’s the first thing that people ask,” the ‘Washington Times’ quoted engineering professor Walter Bradley, who is leading the research as saying.

“We knew coconuts were abundant – about 50 billion grow a year. But poor farmers, not big plantations, grow 96% of those coconuts. We wanted to figure out a way to make tings better for them, to create a viable new market for them,” Bradley added. Bradley said that the farmers, an estimated 11 million around the world, make about $500 a year. If the coconut car interiors gain traction, their incomes would triple, he added.

The “mechanical properties” of coconut fibers are as good or better than synthetic or polyester fibers. They also are less expensive and the stuff of the greenest dreams. “They’re better for the environment because the coconut husks would have otherwise been thrown away. Coconuts do not burn well or emit toxic fumes, which is crucial in passing 10 safety-performance tests required for commercial applications,” Bradley was quoted as saying. Various organizations in the United States are giving perks to hybrid and green cars that include parking benefits.

Prevention is Better than Cure

‘Prevention is better than cure’ a notion that’s almost told by everyone is to its word. Prevention comprises of two words – Prevent (to make something unable to do) and the suffix tion in the end. Thus, the word prevention is produced. Cure; which means restore or get rid of is mainly used in medical institutes as to prevent any disease from spreading or to heal. Rather than having a cure, prevention is better when we take care of ourselves.

Now days, people are starting to know the value of this notion and are shaping up to it.
The source to be cured comes from the environment. So we’ve got to live in a clean environment and have clean always. Most of the diseases or epidemics are due to the breeding of mosquitoes in the stagnant waters near your locality. So to prevent this breeding we either have to stop water from stagnating or put a few drops of kerosene or oil, to prevent the mosquitoes from breeding. Also most of the diseases are from mosquitoes as they are the carriers of the disease causing micro-organisms. Other means through which diseases are caused are from open food that is later consumed; communicating or residing near an ill person; not maintaining a clean hygiene etc. Measurable steps have to be taken for prevention of these.
I hope that after reading this post you’d have realized how important is it to be cautious of such maladies.
